Patient Notice - Coronavirus - Update 22nd June 2020

Firstly, I hope you and your loved ones remain safe and well. It’s been a long time, but we can inform you that following advice from the regulatory bodies, dental practices in England will be permitted phased re-opening subject to the implementation of strict new guidelines and protocols. We are pleased to say that we will be able to offer you routine appointments from July 1st 2020.

Whilst many things may have changed over recent months, what hasn’t is our commitment to you and delivering the highest standards of patient care.  As always, our practice conforms to all the regulations and guidelines issued by official healthcare bodies in England and designed to ensure your dental care is both safe and comfortable.

Safety and infection control have always been of the highest priority in our practice and over the past 10 weeks, we have been continually reviewing guidance, ensuring that when we do re open we are providing a safe environment for our patients and team members. As a result of these increased protocols, your next visit to the practice may look and feel different.  The treatments you are offered may be different to those you received before depending on staff and equipment available. It will take some time before services return to what you previously experienced as normal. Our team members will be wearing enhanced PPE, we will of course be promoting social distancing and your journey through the practice may be different. Fear not though, we are still the same team we were prior to entering lockdown!

PRE- APPOINTMENT changes and PROTOCOL.

  • Please do not visit the practice without an appointment
  • The new scheduling system may mean that we will be able to offer you a smaller range of appointment options to choose from. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing measures.
  • Prior to offering you an appointment you will be asked some screening questions.

On the Day of your Appointment:

  • If arriving by car - Please wait in your car until you are called in for your appointment.
  • If arriving by foot – Please knock on the door and wait for the receptionist to open the door.
  • If required your temperature will be taken using a contactless thermometer. If your temperature is above 37.8 degrees centigrade or if you have any associated symptoms, you will be asked to return home and self isolate in keeping with government guidelines.
  • We have hand sanitiser that we will ask you to use when you enter the practice. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the practice for you to use as needed.
  • We no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect

In the surgery:

  • You may be given a peroxide mouthwash to rinse with for 30 seconds. This has been shown to be effective in reducing any possible viral load in your mouth
  • All our clinical staff will be wearing personal protective equipment in line with current recommendations and evidence including masks, visors and protective clothing as appropriate regulations.
  • We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

How you can help:

  •  Please do not arrive without an appointment
  •  With the exception of children and patients with carers, patients should come alone
  •  A distance of at least 2 metres must be observed if another patient is present in the dental practice
  • Please limit personal items being brought into the practice (bags, coats etc)
  • If you show symptoms following appointment booking, you should contact the practice by phone.
  • Patients should come wearing a mask if possible or be prepared to wear one
  • Our toilets will be for emergency use only and we would encourage you to use the toilet before leaving home where possible.
  • Payment should be made by card where possible

Finally, thank you again for your loyalty and patience throughout this pandemic – we truly are grateful for your support and cannot wait to get back to seeing and treating our patients.
